Guenther Roth was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and immigrated to Australia in 1964, to follow his Australian wife Ronda. His grandparents had been running a hotel in Switzerland, but he started in the dental industry.
Encouraged by new challenges, Guenther and Ronda bought their first guesthouse, the Periwinkle in Manly, in 1994, and then followed it up with the purchase of the Chelsea in Darlinghurst.
Guenther likes to swim, walk and ski, and is an opera fan.
